Define “art”. Say what? Why not ask for a synonym for the word “controversy”?
Have you ever heard the expression “art for art’s sake”? That’s basically a freedom in expression which allows artists to seek beauty without regard to moral purpose or social impact. Usually when one defines art like that, it results in a lot of argument, peaking the public’s interest to want to know what all the fuss is about, and in the end – each individual decides “beauty is in the eye of the beholder”.
I have always enjoyed various art forms – painting, sculpture, etc. However, in the past, my opinions were kept private; to avoid the controversy. These days, thanks to the invention of a wonderful social media tool called Pinterest, my favorite artists can be shared with millions of others via the Internet.
